The Helping Zebra
Our humanitarian projects
in Arusha, Tanzania
Our projects cover several areas essential to local development: health, education, child protection, animal welfare, construction and agriculture. These sectors have been chosen in close collaboration with local partners in order to respond to real needs, while respecting the culture and dynamics of the community. Each volunteer participates in a useful and educational activity, while discovering the human, cultural and natural wealth of the region.
Joining The Helping Zebra means embarking on a meaningful human adventure while exploring Tanzania in a different way. In addition to the missions, discovery activities are offered during free time: safaris, hikes, cultural encounters… A way to combine solidarity and exploration in a safe and caring environment.
Our vision: responsible volunteering, rooted in local reality
At The Helping Zebra, we believe in meaningful, respectful and useful volunteering.
Our mission is simple: to build human bridges between motivated volunteers and local projects in Tanzania that have expressed specific needs.
We know that volunteering abroad raises questions, particularly about its real impact and the professionalisation of certain organisations. That is why we have chosen to operate with transparency, local roots and ethical standards.
What drives us:
- Long-term partnerships with local projects, chosen for their reliability and genuine commitment to communities.
- Support before, during and after the assignment, so that each volunteer understands the challenges on the ground and acts with sensitivity and kindness.
- A human and personalised approach, far removed from voluntourism or standardised experiences.
- A local presence in Arusha, which allows us to monitor projects on a daily basis and stay connected to local realities.
We believe that quality engagement requires organisation, time and resources. That is why our structure is professional: to ensure that volunteering is supervised, transparent and beneficial for all parties.
The Helping Zebra is not about ‘doing things for others’ — it is about humbly supporting promising local initiatives.
Additional costs
Volunteer projects in the medical and animal sectors require additional costs related to specific supervision and necessary equipment.
These additional costs ensure optimal conditions for your assignment and quality support in the field.
